Tobacco is not harmful unless it is burned

According to Robert E. Marx, DDS. Professor of Surgery and Chief, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. University of Miami School of Medicine alongwith Dr. Diane Stern, DDS, Clinical Professor of Surgery at Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery says - “Electrophilic chemicals which damage DNA are produced when tobacco is burned”.(Page 286,Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology written by Robert.E.Marx & Dr. Diane Stern )

Therefore epoxide of tobacco tar produced on burning of tobacco is the cause of carcinogenic (cause of cancer) and not Nicotine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cigarette#Cigarette#litter)

It is wrong to blame the smokeless tobacco as the cause of mouth cancer.

1. There were related cases of mouth and Oropharynx cancer which occurred in elderly persons who had been smoking and consuming liquor for long time.
However, now in modern time the cases of mouth cancer are increasing in Young generation who even do not consume smokeless tobacco but indulge in unnatural sex which leads to diseases like HPV.

2. Regional Cancer Centre at ThiruvananthaPuram, has stated that due to lack of intake of green and yellow vegetables, Smoking, alcohol, tobacco overdose, early marriage, sexual relations with multiple partners, high consumption of fatty substances, physical hygiene and are also the leading cause of cancer.

Ban on Gutka Unjust

We do not think that it is a sound approach to ban one form of tobacco consumption without any scientific assessment. It is vital that any regulation on smokeless tobacco takes into account the relative harmfulness of smoking tobacco which is combustible and where pharmacological impact is ignited with inhaling by lungs. Given that health authorities have raised concerns on both smoking and non-smoking forms of tobacco consumption, a blanket ban on Gutka will tantamount to stimulating shifts to smoking. It will end up suggesting that smoking form of tobacco is less harmful which cannot be the intention of any regulation with vast scientific evidence against smoking.
