The smokeless tobacco association was formed in the year 2007 (under the societies registration act) to safeguard and promote the business operating under this category.

The rules and regulations are constituted by the managing committee of the STA with the assistance of The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing & Processing Co-operative Limited, All India Katha Factories Association and other organizations including Tobacco Workers Association and Employees Unions across the country. Many Vikreta Associations also joined us in this collective action to provide quality smokeless tobacco products in response to consumer demand in the markets..

The aims and objective of this association is to protect the legitimate rights of manufacturers and traders engaged in this business. We are also involved in undertaking, assisting and developing scientific, technological and economic research relating to chewing tobacco mainly zarda, khaini, naswar, pan flavoring tobacco, pan chatni, gutka etc. We initiate suitable steps on matters affecting Trade and Industry, to improve, protect and defend discriminatory and oppressive government policies, legislations, enactments or judicial pronouncements by taking suitable recourse to legal and constitutional remedies including representations to the Central and State governments. 

The association also provides an environment of participation and sharing the best practices for improvement of processing, quality and techniques for grading and packaging of such products. 

The association also provides a platform for understanding, transparency, assessibility, flexibility, co-operation and harmony between various government departments and members of trade and industry for the promotion of industry. It also actively initiates and pursues legal or otherwise any suitable remedial action in the interest of the trade and industry related to smokeless tobacco. 

The promotional activities include conducting seminars, conferences, workshops and community participation for the promotion of sustainable and progressive development of the collective goals of association.

As a CSR initiative, the association also offers help to the Nation on the occasion of crisis such as wars, emergencies, natural calamities like floods, draughts, earthquakes etc in the form of donations and subscriptions to institutions engaged in relief work.
